What is TradeMarketing ?
The essence of trade marketing is finding out how the retailer thinks and discovering what motivates him. Just like consumer marketing targets the consumer, mapping the consumer’s behavior.
It is an element of the marketing mix that relate to building demand at the http://www.answers.com/topic/middleman (wholesaler, retailer, distributor) level. For example, a marketer might offer special display allowances and promotional support to retailers in exchange for additional display space.
The Trade Marketing Mix are those elements of the Marketing Mix that relate to increasing the demand at wholesaler, retailer, or distributor level rather then at the end-user level. Typical examples of such elements are: trade advertising, personal selling, wholesale pricing, payment options, return services, special display allowances, promotional support. Using the trade marketing mix, manufacturers aim to achievea favorable position at distributors.
But on top of it all, trade marketing should be a way of thinking, rather than just a set of tools, a standard operating procedure or a group of people working in a new department which is doing the job not wanted by either the sales and or marketing department.
